Using Subjective Essay Samples As Part of Your Essay Writing ProgramSubjective essay samples, which many high school students (myself included) are required to do as part of their essay writing program, can be helpful and enlightening. The objective of an essay is to explain the student's perspective, thoughts, and/or experience in a particular situation or event. Having a sample to analyze your essay from makes your analysis and overall development as a writer easier.The essays of my high school freshmen classmates were written using the essays that were called 'Subjective Essay Examples' in class. Most of the essays I wrote were in the subject area of 'human sexuality'. While I never had the opportunity to read these essays or even get a copy of my own essay, I think I would have been encouraged to write better with the examples that were available to me. As it is, I thought about how much better I would have written if I had read some of these samples earlier on.In some cases, stu dents are guided to use a topic that they already know a lot about: subject and religion, for example. While this may work, I am not sure it is very effective. It can also be quite difficult to interpret what it means, especially if the idea of 'subject' is based on certain religious beliefs that students already hold to.One excellent source for sample essay topics are the magazines in your home library. I used to buy them every month when they came out. I liked to flip through them, looking for new ideas or ways to develop my writing. Sometimes, the magazines would include small sample essays, but sometimes they would only include one or two topics that may not be applicable to your particular topic.Another great thing about reading your magazine is that you could actually send a sample of your original work back to the editor and ask for a correction or suggestion. This can really help you improve your writing style and boost your confidence in your own writing abilities.I have fo und the sample essays that I did read in magazines most helpful. Some of them would take a little longer to fully understand, but this allowed me to develop my own 'comparison process' that would help me eliminate those essays that I could see myself rewriting down the road. One sample essay even included a specific learning approach that my class used to develop our lesson plans. The professor in class was so impressed with the sample essay that he felt it was a good idea to use it as the basis for a lesson plan we developed in our lesson planning session.In the end, it is important to have some subject or topic examples to help you think about the way you would like to write your essay. Subjective essay samples can help you clarify your thoughts and help you to develop your writing skills.
